What to look for in a Disc Jockey
Deciding on a Disc Jockey for
your event can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask DJ’s
when you are looking for your event:
Does the company have a
contract for ensuring your event?
It is extremely important to have
your booking confirmed in writing. Ask for a written agreement,
especially if you are paying an initial deposit. Digital
Entertainment guarantees that your event is our only event for the
day, no double booking, and a contract is always required.
Is the DJ Company insured?
Digital Entertainment carries a
full $1,000,000 liability and full personal property insurance
policy. Many reception facilities now require the DJ’s to carry
liability insurance, so be sure to ask.
Does the Company hire out
their DJ’s or do they perform the work personally?
There are two main types of DJ
companies, Single Operator and Multi-operator. There are good and
bad qualities about each, but it is helpful to know if the person
you will be planning with will actually be the DJ at your wedding.

Does the Company perform
pre-planning and event consultation?

copies are always made for other professionals (Photographers,
Wedding Planners, Facility Staff, etc.)
What kind of coordination will
the DJ provide for the event?

clients prior to the event to work out all those details. Making
sure your event is organized and runs smoothly is essential. We
also want to make all your guests have a great time too!
Does the DJ use professional
equipment within the industry?
Although home stereo equipment is
high quality, professional Disc Jockey equipment is designed for
constant and prolonged use. Ask to see pictures of their set-up and
lighting. You don’t have to be an expert to recognize professional
equipment from home stereo equipment. Digital Entertainment carries
all professional equipment from the top DJ brands including American
DJ, Numark, and Gemini. All of our equipment is professionally
maintained.
Does the DJ carry a back up
system?
Although failures are very rare,
they can happen. If something fails or breaks, the last thing you
want is the party to end. Digital Entertainment carries a full
back-up system to every event.
Are there any other services
or specialties of the company?
We all know it’s the little
things that can make the difference. Digital Entertainment is a
proud member of the American Disc Jockey Association, and founding
members of the Colorado Professional Disc Jockey Association. A
standard of values, ethics and professionalism is required for
membership. Digital Entertainment’s DJ’s are trained First
Responders from the American Red Cross and Department of
Transportation in First Aid and pre-hospital care. Digital
Entertainment also carries a “Wedding Emergency Kit” with the
essentials such as a sewing kit, safety pins, hairspray and comb,
feminine products, saline drops for eyes and contacts, and more.
